When Karen was in high school she got hit in the face while playing softball. Unfortunately, it broke her two front teeth. She went to her local dentist and he repaired the teeth with composite bonding. Karen was just never pleased with the results and was always embarrassed to smile or show her teeth in photos. Finally “fed up”, Karen came to Dr. Huefner to discuss replacing the old composite veneers with something that looked better and more natural.

Karen actually had pretty white teeth, but the plastic composite that was used was way too yellow in color. Dr. Huefner recommend replacing the old composite veneers with porcelain veneers for a better, more attractive and natural look.

John, a gentleman in his 70s, had this and always wanted to have nice teeth and a good looking smile. His comments were, “There is nothing attractive about work, crowded, yellow teeth and now I want a nicer smile!” He had always wanted a nicer smile, but had never gotten around to doing anything about it. Now it was time for him to do something to give him a better and little younger looking smile.

The big questions he had for us was “would we have to pull any of his bottom teeth?” and “would he need braces?” He loved our answer to both of his questions. Our answer was “No!”, which thrilled him. Here is the result was got for John with porcelain veneers on his lower teeth, and porcelain veneers and a bridge on his upper teeth.
AFTER Note that no lower teeth were removed. The crowding, color and shape of his lower teeth was corrected with some simple gum recontouring with laser and ten porcelain veneers, which we sometimes call “instant orthodontics”. Since his teeth had worn and shortened over the years, we also made his upper teeth a little longer, resulting in a smile that made him look younger. As you can clearly imagine, he was extremely pleased with the results that we achieved for him and now he beams a great smile everywhere he goes!

Janice hated her smile! Her teeth were crooked, discolored and all leaned to one side. She is employed in a sales position and as such, is always in the public eye. It was getting to the point that she was becoming extremely self conscious about her teeth and smile.

She came to Dr. Huefner for a cosmetic dentistry consultation to learn about her options. What could she do to finally have a great looking smile? Would she need braces? How about the color? Would bleaching her teeth beautifully white? Also, how long would it take? She is a busy person and didn’t want her treatment to go one for months or possibly years.
Actually Janice was extremely fortunate, as the best and most conservative way to treat her was with porcelain laminate veneers. Her teeth could be straight, a beautiful whitish natural-color, the proper size and proportion and not leaning to the side….and, it could all be accomplished in less than a months time!
Janice still wondered if braces might be the best way to go for her? When Dr. Huefner explained that braces (orthodontics) only straighten the teeth, and don’t do anything for the color or shape of the teeth, or replace discolored fillings, she understood why porcelain veneers were recommended. Why would she want to straighten her teeth and then have straight ugly teeth, especially if porcelain veneers would effectively take care of all of her issues of concerns and be done in such a short period of time?
Janice was anxious to start her porcelain veneer treatment as soon as possible, which she did. As you can see from the post treatment photo below, she got an incredible result and a smile that she can be proud of!

Tiny teeth…some people were just born with teeth that are very small. Andrea was just such a person. Her teeth measured in the smallest 2% of the population and hated the way she smile looked. She told us that it actually affected her image in the workplace. Although she had graduated with honors from college, her co-workers and clients treated her like she was still in high school. As a results of her very young look she felt that she wasn’t taken as serious as she should have been by her co-workers and customers.
What she wanted was a mature, adult-looking smile. Braces weren’t the answer, she needed larger teeth. And she didn’t want to show as much of her gums either, could that be fixed? Fortunately for Andrea her problems could be corrected with cosmetic dentistry. First, we used a gum laser to remove some of the excess gums around her teeth. That made her teeth look a little longer. Then we placed porcelain veneers on her upper teeth, making them longer and in normal proportion to her face and mouth. Also, we made her veneers whiter and with a more natural unworn feminine shape. The results were fantastic for Andrea! She loved her new smile and reports that she get compliments everywhere she goes.
Clearly, what we achieved for Andrea is a beautiful, adult-like smile and she was incredibly pleased with the results of our cosmetic dentistry and porcelain veneers.

Debbi hated the “caps” on her front four teeth and she was starting to become increasingly sensitive about her smile and appearance of her teeth. An attractive lady in her 40s, Debbi was ready to finally do something about it. She was the first to admit, she had been going way too long with an unattractive smile.

Upon discussing what she wanted from any cosmetic dentistry that we might do for Debbi, she stated that she wanted a “pretty”, more “youthful” smile, with even, straight, whiter teeth. She was also concerned about cost and how many dental visits that it would take. After careful evaluation of her teeth and smile, and discussing her dental goals, we recommended replacing her old “porcelain-metal caps” with all-porcelain caps, and placing porcelain veneers on her other teeth. Doing those things for her would allow Dr. Huefner to create a beautiful smile for Debbi, one that would look attractive, more youthful and professional. Here is the final result we achieved for Debbi in just three visits.
